Kaizankyo Spa Resort, Japan

The Spa is located in a National Park on the Pacific seaboard of Japan with natural hotsprings on site. Ushida and Findlay were asked to design and a series of bathing and swimming facilities with guest bedrooms in western and Japanese style. The form was based on a radial spiral plan and the materials were local timber, slate and stone in keeping with the palette of the park.
