A local culture and amenity centre in the tile manufacturing centre of Japan. The form employed local tiles and was formed to maximises passive energy strategies. The space is multipurpose, enabling activities ranging from art exhibitions to children’s sports.
The amorphous envelope extends to form a ‘protective’ arm that shades the building from the sun, with the glazing located to provide passive ventilation.
